Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire, a quiet area situated in the West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" area. Many people who don't know the name mistakenly believe that it is the West Island extends westward from Montreal. It is actually it is it is the West Island includes everything westward from that city Lachine. Amanda Brugel's birthplace has been frequently mentioned, but her brief visit to the West Island was not. Brugel grew-up in Courtice near Oshawa, Ontario. Early ambitions were to become a dancer. Then, a growth increase caused her to surpass her dance partners she had. She admitted in an article that was published in the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. Once I surpassed all my male partners and stopped dancing, I quit. Many former dancers turn into acting. In Brugel's situation, it was a suggestion from the drama instructor at her high school that led her in the right direction. The teacher encouraged her to audition for a part in a school production. The school's production was a success and she was selected to play the principal part for Anne of Green Gables after she tried out. She was awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to take part in York University's Theater Program which she completed from the program in 2000, earning a Bachelor's of Fine Arts. The career of Brugel spans more than twenty years, and she's performed in more than 60 shows that have screened on large screens and on smaller ones. Her most recognizable role was the one of Rita (pictured beneath) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel, the only Canadian on the season 1 The Handmaid's Tale cast and seen only occasionally, was the only Canadian.
